On July 5, 2022, Associate Professor Irena Zakarija-Grković was elected from among her fellow directors of Cochrane's geographic groups as a director's representative to the Cochrane Council (English: 'Cochrane Council'), and on January 1, 2023, she assumed her new position. The Cochrane Council (https://community.cochrane.org/organizational-info/people/cochrane-council/cochrane-council-membership and https://www.cochrane.org/about-us/governance-and-management) is established in 2016 as an advisory body to the Cochrane Board of Directors and as such represents the voice of the Cochrane groups at the highest organizational level (https://community.cochrane.org/organizational-info/people/cochrane-organizational-structure). The Council aims to ensure that the Cochrane Groups are effectively represented in Cochrane's leadership and in making strategic decisions for Cochrane's work and activities. Assoc. prof. Ph.D. Irena Zakarija-Grković will replace the director of Cochrane Switzerland, Dr. Erik von Elm, in a three-year volunteer term, with the possibility of re-election. We wish Irena much success in representing the Croatian Cochrane and all other Cochrane geographic groups and successful work in the Cochrane Council!
